Rashad, during a field visit from to Shiu port located 35 km from Parsian City,
mentioned that the development of port infrastructure and maritime transport
will have a significant impact on the livelihood and life of the coastal
residents, in addition to job creation, economic and social development of the
region. He also stated that by providing the necessary infrastructure at the Shiu
port and its proximity to the Gulf states, including Qatar, this port could be
turned into an active export center and mineral terminals in the western
province of Hormozgan.
Rastad added: Equipping, developing and building the
necessary infrastructure in this port will provide a major boost to the
prospect of non-oil exports and maritime trade with the Gulf States.
Allahmorad Afifipour, Director General of Ports and Maritime
Affairs of Hormozgan, also presented a report on the measures taken to activate
the port in the last year, saying that Shiu is a commercial port with the
capacity of 120 floating launch boats.
Shiu Port also known as Sheyow, Sheyū, Shīū, and Shīvūh, is
a village in Behdasht Rural District, Kushk-e Nar District, Parsian County,
Hormozgan Province, Iran.
