With emphasize on the importance of member states role in the process, he continued: They can provide financial contributions to the TC Fund and the Multi-Donor Trust Funds (MDTFs) and also provide financial and in-kind support to the ITCP activities. IMO should continue encouraging Member states to provide technical experts for the delivery of training courses and advisory missions with no cost to the Organization or to provide the facilities or infrastructures for delivery of ITCP activities or share the cost of organizing training courses or workshops

Managing Director of PMO also suggested some a few points for strengthening the regional cooperation in maritime issues under IMO technical cooperation program.

He continued: IMO secretariat can create a new module in IMO website, through which the IMO member States can share their experiences in terms of regional cooperation. They could also share with IMO, the facilities that their respective State can provide for the purpose of delivery of ITCP activities.
, IMO should consider “smart distance training program” for the member States using a robust website and establish instructors/trainers database for that purpose.

Along with the theme of this year, Managing Director of PMO highlighted: For the purpose of empowering women, WMU, IMSSEA , IMLI and IPER should provide more sponsorship to female candidates. Certain number of seats could be considered for qualified female candidates of maritime community. IPER’s Port management short course is a good example. IMO should also increase its support to women in maritime by sponsoring at least two female candidates each year to study at WMU and IMLI.
